Mansion Red Oak Project: April Update!

Hello all,

Just wanted to drop in a quick update on the red oak that came down in front of Mcpherson mansion in Howell, Michigan. It is officially all through the milling process and just look at how gorgeous this red oak is. Beautiful straight grain that should produce some absolutely lovely pieces.

Next steps are to pick through the 1000+ board feet and select what lumber will go into the kiln drying stage of the process which will hopefully begin around the end of the summer. Everything else I will take back to my place and allow to air dry over time to be used on other projects, donated to other craftsman/women or sold over the coming years. It’s certainly more than I will ever use personally but the sawyer needs the room so what isn’t going into the kiln needs to find a home and that home will be somewhere in my backyard at some point in time. Haha!
